Business and Social Media

When they was no internet, people used to give advertisements only on television and radio. I still remember some nice commercials by big companies. Then came the internet and the trend of online advertisements. The internet became the largest medium for mass communication. Companies, may not give advertisements on television or newspaper, but they will definitely give their advertisement on internet.

The printed media and television has some drawbacks which were:

  • They had a limited reach: The television, newspapers and radio had their reach in a particular geographical region. It was very tough to target overseas audience and most of the companies had their business limited to a particular geographic region.
  • The Prices: The prices were very high as there were only limited channels for advertisement. I myself, used to give advertisement of my products in newspaper and always felt, that prices are very high.

Then with internet came social media websites like Facebook, Twitter and Blogs. These websites started to grow very fast and had a great influence on the mass. The companies started giving their advertisements on theses websites, to target the mass. These sites offered very low costs to advertisers and started earning a lot of money.

The Social Media started to have a great impact on business. Companies started to give their advertisements on social media and started get more clients. The whole network started to grow day by day. Now, a business in India could easily get clients from London or vice-versa. The advertisers could easily get the information, about the traffic using the tools provided by these sites. These tools, record data of each and every click and impression. These tools also provided the geographic data of the visitor using their IP address.

Other than advertisements, the companies started online surveys using the social media. By using the online surveys they could reach more people than any other medium. Online surveys could be a feedback survey, new product survey or a product improvement survey. These surveys now were available to overseas clients also.

Bloggers have also become an important part of social media. The bloggers have helped the companies, by writing honest reviews of the products. The companies send the samples of their product and the bloggers use them to give their feedback. Many companies have seen their profits increasing because of online advertisement through social media.

I myself, have seen improvement in my business from the day I started advertising on social media. My company’s sale has increased by 30 percent as compared to the sales before. The quarterly profits have increased to an all-time high. The cost of advertisement on social media channels is less as compared to television. The target audience is much more as there is no geographical issue.

This blog post is inspired by the blogging marathon hosted on IndiBlogger for the launch of the #Fantastico Zica from Tata Motors. You can apply for a test drive of the hatchback Zica today.
